The Battle of the Bulge (16 December 1944 – 25 January 1945) was a major German offensive campaign launched through the densely forested Ardennes region of Wallonia in Belgium, France and Luxembourg on the Western Front toward the end of World War II in Europe.
This post is about a different battle of a much lesser import.
Ever since I got married, my waist-line began expanding. I know that many of you can easily sympathize. 🙂
At the end of last year it finally got to the point that I felt driven to do something about it. Over a period of four to five months I lost 12kg (26lbs/1 stone 12lbs). It was painful – I love food. But I went on loose no-carb/no-sugar diet, began cutting back on food portions and stuck with it. I need to be healthy for my work and for my family. I need to not be unattractive to my spouse. And I need to have discipline in my life.
It’s this last aspect that I want to stress. Discipline. Discipline is a key to so many aspects of our lives. It’s key to spiritual growth. It’s key to developing and maintaining a character that pleases God. And it doesn’t come without effort.
Let’s do our best to maintain a standard of discipline in our lives. And guess what. It feels great when we do! And I’m feeling great having just had two more notches put into my belts. 🙂
